We are so excited to announce the Mosaic Shop is now coming to the Stanford Village! We will open our doors on December 16th at the Street Market celebration, alongside the many lovely shops and restaurants in Stanford. Visitors will be treated to delights such as homemade jams, chutneys, syrups and baked goodies. You will find a large selection of fabulous organic Rain bath and spa products that we use throughout our Mosaic Rain Spa and our 5 star Lagoon Lodge accommodation. Our curios are sourced from throughout the African continent and include one of a kind African artifacts, quality handmade and designed jewelry, unique gift items, decorative housewares, gorgeous scarves for summer and winter and surprises for your little one.
An enthusiastic member of the Mosaic Team can also tell you about the fun that happens at Mosaic. You can book a divine treatment or two at our Mosaic Rain Spa or your activities: guided quad bike rides along fynbos trails and boat cruises, both of which can be combined with a delicious lunch at the Spookhuis or under ancient Milkwood trees on the lagoon edge. You can browse the old cheese cellar of the Spookhuis and select from a wide variety of wine, mostly from our Overberg Region.
Last but not least, since the owners are from Tennessee, the home of Jack Daniels, it is only right that the 1892 Spookhuis becomes a “Friend of Jack.” Both are “stories of craftsmanship using years as the chapters.” Join us for a tasting where you can choose between eight different unique blends of the famous Jack Daniel’s. And remember, that our lovely cottages are just a stones throw away!
We look forward to seeing you at Mosaic!]]>
The Western Cape Government is spearheading a number of initiatives in an effort to make the Western Cape the Green Economic Hub of Africa. The 110% Green Initiative provides a platform that stimulates people and organizations to build an innovative and dynamic Green Economy. Helen Zille, Western Cape Premier, stated “it is a call for 110% commitment – that is what is needed to make the paradigm shift to connect environmental preservation and economic growth . . . It is our hope that organizations will pick up the flag and invest in ways that support green growth.”
We are pleased to announce that Premier Helen Zille honored MOSAIC Private Sanctuary as a 110% Green Organization at the High Tea on November 5, 2013, at the Premier’s home. Our project proposal was submitted to 110% Green, evaluated and selected as part of the vibrant network of municipalities and organizations building an economy that connects the well-being of our environment with the growth of our local economy. And, it is not all talk – our commitment requires action and reporting the impact to the economy.
MOSAIC is committed to clear alien vegetation on our land, grow organic vegetables for our hospitality food service and our staff, continue to participate in the Stanford Food Heroes program, use building techniques that creates a low carbon footprint, and install energy efficient fireplaces that use biomass pellets. See our entire commitment here.
Although a significant pledge and responsibility to the Western Cape, The 110% Initiative aligns with our mission at MOSAIC – of renewal and restoration – renewal for those who stay here, but also restoration of hope and livelihoods through job creation and education, and restoration of the eco-system in our little corner of the Cape Floral Kingdom.]]>
Burrowed within the ancient milkwoods of South Africa you will find MOSAIC’s Safari Style Lagoon Lodge. Here, you will discover a place where time stands still, a place for contemplation and adventure. Our resort is located in Stanford, on the Hermanus Lagoon and Surrounded by the Overberg Mountains. We tend to think of ourselves as the Cape’s answer to a luxurious Hermanus resort and retreat.
Our Lagoon Lodge has 5 luxury safari-style suites and is fully inclusive of all meals, house beverages/wine/beer and Mosaic activities. Secluded within an ancient milkwood grove, stone and glass walls open onto gorgeous mountain views and private decks overlook the Hermanus Lagoon. Each room has beautiful soft netting surrounding a king bed, a sitting area, writing desk, fireplace and ceiling fan. The bathrooms are fitted with a large romantic tub, copper sinks and a private outdoor shower for an “African bush” experience. Twin beds can be accommodated.
Boardwalks under a canopy of trees lead to the lounge where drinks and meals are shared outdoors or by a fireplace that will warm your soul. A heated plunge pool overlooking the mountains is a favorite place to spot your favorite birds. And as evening falls, you will witness the exquisite colors of the sun setting and the glorious expanse of the star-filled South African sky.
The cuisine at Mosaic is fresh, delicious and the creative mastery of our chef, our baker, our gardener, and local producers. Breakfast is a hearty fare with freshly baked muffins, homemade jams, fresh fruit and a hot meal. Lunch can be gourmet picnic style outdoors or around blazing fires when there is a chill in the air. Sumptuous dinners are prepared by our chef and built around organic vegetables from our garden and local seasonal ingredients…and best paired with fine South African wine from our cellar!
We invite you to have a stay with us at MOSAIC, the finest Hermanus resort. Most certainly, we assure a time of adventure for the active and a time of rest for the busy.]]>
Hermanus is known as the world’s premier venue for whale watching. As part of your stay at our private sanctuary, we encourage you escape to the sea and experience the whales for yourself. Hermanus boat whale watching has long since been a guest favorite, and with the opportunity right it at your fingertips, it is almost a shame not to catch a glimpse of the sea’s biggest mammals. Between June and December is when Southern Right Whales from Antarctica migrate to our sheltered bays to court, mate and calf. So, be sure to time your trip accordingly if whale watching is on your heart!
Hermanus boat whale watching is certainly an option, but we offer this directly from the shore as well! In season, the whales can be seen as close as 20 meters from the shore, breaching, spraying, lobtailing. Our guests’ favorite place for peaceful, private viewing is from the sand dunes on a secluded part of Walker Bay Beach. We offer 4×4 beach excursions to take you to the serene venue. Just a short 5 km away, our quad bikes will get you there in a minute while you get ready for the show.
The shoreline whale watching experience is included as part of your stay at our Lagoon Lodge. We know opportunities like this don’t come around everyday, and we will do everything we can to give memories that you will cherish for a lifetime. If you desire to stay at one of our Cottages then you can easily reserve a whale watching beach excursion for your stay. We charge R 300 per person for a 1.5-2 hour adventure. If you think you might even barely enjoy this adventure, this is a must! Honestly, we have little doubt that this will not far exceed your expectations.
If offshore viewing is for you, then let us know and we will book the adventure for you. MOSAIC Private Sanctuary * Hermanus Lagoon]]>
